From Rebecca:
Kristin and Andrew will be getting married in Whitehouse Ohio this summer. When Kristin contacted me about photographing their wedding, she also asked me to do their engagement pictures.
As we planned the details of the engagement shoot, she mentioned that her fiance wanted to include his 8 month old Goldador ( a Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever mix), Maple, in the session.
The cute couple along with Maple, met up with my assistant and I at a local park. Wildwood Metropark in Toledo, Ohio is a perfect place for dogs and their owners, as well as a beautiful back drop for memorable engagement photos.
The session being in January, it was a little bit chilly. As you can see, there was some lovely white snow. Kristin and Andrew did their best not to look cold. Maple, however, was so excited to play, the cold seemed to have no effect on her.
When I photograph pets, I go into a session with absolutely no expectations about their behavior. Even the most polite and well trained dogs, can have an off day, or become over stimulated by new surroundings. My philosophy is to let dogs be dogs!
Maple wanted to explore, so we walked down a trail a little way until she was willing to sit still. The shots where she looks most posed involved my assistant trying to catch her attention and direct it towards me. I quickly took several shots in the brief second everyone looked perfect.
Truly documenting furry family members is all about waiting for the moment and going with the flow! A high shutter speed also helps to capture those wiggly ones. I personally love the candid moments that really show Maple’s personality. She loves to give kisses!
I wish Kristin and Andrew the best as they start their new life together and I am confident that Maple has two very loving family members.
