Imagine travelling across every inch of your country photographing dogs from all walks of life to raise money for dogs in need. That’s exactly the adventure Kirstie McConnell from Kirstie M Photography is embarking on right now.

Over the next twelve to eighteen months Kirstie and her dog, Flee, are travelling Australia, visiting a town near you, to photograph the dogs in your life for next year’s coffee table book which will raise funds and awareness for Oscar’s Law.

Kirstie says your dog need not be obedient, a typical “cute” dog, or particularly handsome. If you love him/her there’s a page in their book for your little or big one to shine. Today she share’s with us page one of the book. Say hello to Busta, the gorgeous German Shepherd X Weimerana…

From Kirstie:

Meet Emily, Ben and Busta.

Emily is a childhood friend, so when she called to book a session of the two important fella’s in her life, I literally jumped up and down with excitement while at the same time trying to contain my nerves. Creating a collection for a friend is always nerve racking but when it’s for an important gift, then the pressures really on. Emily asked me to capture the bond between her boys to give to her partner Ben as a gift, and so that’s exactly what we did.

We organised an afternoon in the park, started with a game of ball for a chance to run, followed by a bit of wrestling to get his silly’s out. Busta decided enough playing and really turned it on for the camera along the park paths. From here we headed to an old butter factory around the corner, where even off the lead along a main road, Busta was focused on showing me his best angles and his affection for his proud parents in Emily and Ben.

Following the session we had a long catch up dinner where I explained my project for the next 12-18 months; travelling Australia to create images for my dog coffee table book, which will raise profits for Oscar’s Law. The project hadn’t yet begun, but in full support Ben insisted Busta MUST go in this book. And so here, at the dinner table, my first page was taken with a goofy German Shepherd X Weimaraner named Busta.

About Kirstie M Photography supporting Oscar’s Law

Oscar’s Law (OL) is a campaign that enables everyone to make a stand and tell the Government that we do not want companion animals factory farmed anymore and we no longer want the pet industry to mislead us about what is acceptable for our animals.

Our mission over the next eighteen months is to help spread the word for OL – from southern Tasmania to north-western Broome, over to Cape York via central Alice Springs and back down the exciting eastern coast.

We have dog photography sessions available at each location to capture a stunning collection for these dogs’ people. From each session we’ll select a photograph to star in the 200 page coffee table book which will be seen and bought from shelves all over Australia, with profits going to Oscar’s Law.

If this is something that interest you, young or old, tall or short, obedient or not, there’s a page in our book for your best friend. We’re currently in South Australia but we have no fixed itinerary, so please register your village through our website to secure our visit, or simply to find out more!
