Nothing is more heartwarming than when a photographer captures a special story from behind the lens.
This gorgeous, light filled session by Jessica Cobb Pet Photography shows how through a short series of pictures you’re able to capture the most beautiful and enduring of bonds.
I’ll let Jessica introduce you to the stunning subjects behind this awesome series…
From Jessica:
Kingsley’s owner, Linzey, contacted me about doing photos of her service dog in training. Kingsley is a standard poodle and I was so excited because I have never photographed one before and I know they are beautiful dogs.
When I arrived and met Linzey and her mom, it was like we were old friends. I found out that she has founded a group called “Phoenix Assistance Dogs”, in which they train puppies to become assistance dogs for people with a range of disabilities. When choosing suitable puppies for the program, they try to rescue shelter pups as often as possible to train and give them a wonderful life with a purpose. Kingsley was not a shelter pup, but he is Linzey’s personal dog in training and assists her with things she can’t do for herself. He is still fairly young and has lots of energy!
He loved jumping through the tall grass and chasing after his tennis ball at the location where we were shooting. He had us all laughing with how he would just bound into this insanely high grass, not being able to see where he was going to land or what was in there. After we wore him out a bit, Linzey had him show off something new they had been working on, which was the command to bring and pick up dropped items and hand them to her. You could tell he loved doing it and thoroughly enjoyed the “game”.
Linzey is super friendly, warm and just a fun person to be around….and the thing that you can tell the most about Linzey is that she loves loves LOVES Kingsley. He is like an extension of her and you can tell they have a very strong bond already. For me, it’s no big deal to grab my camera and snap a photo of my pooch or even grab my Iphone and take a quick photo before the moment is gone, but that’s not the case for Linzey. If she wants a picture of her dog, she has to ask her Mom to grab the camera, hope her dog stays in the position and not move before she gets back and is able to take the photo. It made me feel that much more privileged to be able to do the session for her so she can have great photos of her best friend “in the moment”.
It was a very special session with a very special lady and her pooch. I ended up doing a session for her Mom’s dog as well and look forward to a session with a new little pup that has recently joined the program and will be needing his moment in the spotlight.
ABOUT JESSICA COBB PET PHOTOGRAPHY
My name is Jessica Cobb and I moved two years ago from Florida to Pennsylvania. I got interested in photography when I started taking photos of my own dog and that interest really grew when I started taking photos of the adoptable dogs at a local rescue that I volunteered with in Florida. Seeing the difference that a photo could make was a real turning point and really made me want to get better and better at it. It just grew from there. I know how important my three dogs are to me and how much I cherish the photos I have of them and love being able to give that away to others so they can have the same thing. I also do people photography, but pets are definitely my passion. I still volunteer my time at a shelter now in Pennsylvania photographing their adoptable pups. It is very rewarding and something I will always continue to do no matter where I am located.
I love stories like this. Amazes me how wonderful our four legged friends can be.
