There are some dogs that just have that glint in their eye. A soul filled with fun. A wink of mischief. A vibe that if they came back as a person, they’d be Betty White.

Lincoln is one such dog.

Through the creative lens of Dana Cubbage Photography, this light hearted teenage puppy session leaves me wanting more. Prepare to book mark this smiling face for future 3pm pick me ups.

Last year, Lincoln’s aunt contacted me about a gift certificate for her brother, Lincoln’s dad. Lincoln and his dad live here in Charleston and his aunt thought it would be the perfect Christmas gift for them. So when they called me earlier this summer to schedule their pet photography session, I was thrilled.

I knew Lincoln was a handsome Great Pyrenees, a breed I hadn’t photographed before – and I was so excited to meet him! When I saw them strolling through the park towards me, I was speechless. Lincoln was even more handsome in person than I ever imagined! At 14 months old, Lincoln is quite the stunner. But he’s just a big, goofy puppy at heart!

At first, Lincoln wasn’t so sure about the camera and it took some time for him to warm up to me. But as you can see, by the end of the session he was happy to ham it up for us, rolling in the grass and giving us the biggest puppy smile I’ve ever seen! Great Pyrenees dogs are known for their stubborn behavior and Lincoln was no exception. It was clear who was running the session and that was totally fine with me! It was fun to watch him just be himself and not have a care in the world. That’s what I love most about dogs. Their carefree attitude.

Lincoln was a blast to photograph and I think we really captured his personality along the streets of Charleston, South Carolina. I hope they are images his dad will cherish forever.
