As soon as this sweet underbite of session from Dana Cubbage Photography landed in my inbox I was smitten. From Lucy’s beautiful face, to her enduring bond with her loving owner, I’m very happy to share their special story with you today…

From Dana:

Lucy is an 8 year old Lhasa Apso who was rescued from a local shelter by Fallston Animal Rescue Movement (FARM) in Maryland.  Lucy wound up at the shelter through no fault of her own and, luckily, a lady who volunteered with FARM knew that someone was looking to rescue a sweet little dog.

That “someone” was my client and the volunteer knew immediately that Lucy was the dog for her!  Within minutes, FARM called my client and she rushed down there with her boyfriend to take Lucy home.  It was love at first sight.

Lucy has helped her mom through some really tough times, so their bond is very special.  Lucy was there to comfort my client through the sudden death of her boyfriend and Lucy was also there to support her through my client’s own fight against cancer.

Luckily, she is in remission and healthy, so that is why they decided to contact me for a session this summer.  They have been through so much together so I was truly honored to photograph them.

Their session was amazing since my client picked some really awesome, urban locations.  Despite the overcast weather, we had so much fun shooting just outside of Baltimore City.  Lucy was a fantastic model and my client was so amazing to work with.  Their combined positive energy was contagious!

I will always remember this session with fond memories because the bond between Lucy and my client was so evident.  There is really something so special about photographing a rescue dog and its owner.  No words can really describe it.

I too have a Lhasa Apso with an under bite. They are such sweet dogs and so expressive. My old girl is 16 and the best companion. I’m so happy to hear that Lucy could help her owner through some hard times as my dog did for me as well.
