Behind the Scenes

A Pretty Fluffy European Adventure – Part I

I’ve been lucky enough to spend the past few weeks on the trip of a lifetime – traveling Europe and soaking up their springtime weather! From Paris, Rome, London, to Athens and beyond…it was an absolute dream – and one I want to share with all of you. Here are the pretty and fluffy highlights of my grand European adventure…

  • The Parisian Flea Markets – Go on a Saturday to find yourself some vintage treasures (and to pat some of the gorgeous furry friends of the flea market owners!) I found the most adorable dog prints above. If you only have time for one, I would suggest Marché Dauphine which has a great mix of prints, vintage clothing, accessories and home collectables.
  • Avenue Montaigne – The best shopping strip in Paris, home to Dior, Chanel, and every other brand that will induce fear into your credit card statement. (Yes, the Dior store was where Carrie fell over in the final episode of Sex and the City). It’s right off the Champs-Elysées and the street has a gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
  • Rue De Saint Honore, Rue Cambon – Walk this gorgeous strip up to the Palace Vendome (home of The Ritz), making sure to stop by 31 Rue Cambon for the original Chanel store and Coco Chanel’s apartment at number 31.
  • Galeries Lafayette – Even if you’re not a shopper at heart, the world renown department store is a visual feast with a stunning glass dome and staircase over 100 years old. If you are a shopper, prepare to be lost in their many levels of fashion and beauty.

  • Laduree – While they are famous for their macaroons, their eclairs and tarts are heaven in a box.
  • Angelinas – Yes, every tourist and their dog goes here (well actually no – there were no dogs), but for lovers of hot chocolate it is a must visit.
  • Plaza Athenee – Not staying at the iconic hotel on the Avenue Montaigne? Make sure you visit for a sublime dining experience at ones of their stunning restaurants. Hands down my meal at their Terrace Restaurant was possibly the best dining experience of my life.
  • Berthillon – Lovers of sweet treats can’t go past this luxury ice cream and sorbet store on the Île Saint-Louis – just a hop, skip and a jump away from Notre Dame.

  • Walk and Explore. Yes, see the museums and climb the Eiffel Tower, but for me my favourite part of Paris was enjoying the city – a picnic in the Tuileries Garden, a walk from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower (stopping to pat many a dog along the way), a stroll along the Seine, a sunset at Pont Neuf… See the sights, but also give yourself a chance to get lost in the city.
  • Take a day trip out to the Champagne region to visit the cellar doors of Moet, Mumm and Dom Perignon.
  • Spend the day in Versailles, walking in the footsteps of Marie Antoinette.

Monte Carlo

  • Rue Princesse Caroline – Traffic free, filled with boutiques, side markets and cafes, this is a perfect stop to stop and people watch.

  • Head to the Palace where you’ll find Princess Grace’s final resting place.
  • Try your luck at the Monte Carlo Casino. Dress well and don’t be intimidated by the man next to you with chips worth 150 thousand Euro to his name. Make sure you grab a cocktail and head out the back for an amazing water view.
  • Pop down to the docks to check out the luxury yachts and cruisers. You might even meet a little friend like we did!

Stay tuned for Part II of my Pretty Fluffy European adventure later in the week!
