Dogs of the Blogs: Life with Addison

When I started thinking of blogs that would be the perfect fit for our Fresh Start week of GETTING HAPPY I have to admit I was spoilt for choice. But there was one blog that stood out. One blog that is always so fresh, genuine and positive that it makes me smile no matter what kind of mood I’m in when I click over. So to share some of those smiles around today I’d like you to meet Taylor and Addison…

Who: Taylor and Addison
Where: Life With Addison
In A Nutshell: My blog is exactly what the title says: Life with Addison. It documents the good, bad, and ugly about being a pet parent, as well as our day to day life.

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way for my family and friends to keep up with us. Once Addison joined our family, the blog kind of became focused on her because, let’s face it, she’s our fur baby. It just took off from there.

What are your most popular posts to date?
The most popular blog posts would have to be the Friday Recap where I shared my thoughts on the Royal Wedding and The Turkey that tried to fly into our house (it was a very exciting moment!) and The Wedding ABCs, but the most favorite, for me and most of my “loyal readers”, would have to be my First Post About Addison orย Safety Pins, Duct Tape, and Santa…Oh my! I’m telling you, she was into everything!

Tell us about your dog…
Addison is a 23-month old goldendoodle who we purchased as a puppy. She is now a 52-pound bundle of energy who loves people and other dogs, but has a ridiculous fear of trash bags and deer. Addie is always finding her way into trouble, but is the happiest dog that I have ever seen. I tend to think of her as a cross between Patty Simcox (from the movie Grease), Buddy the Elf (Will Ferrell’s character in the movie Elf), and a hockey player who is always going to the penalty box! She is perfect (for us at least!).

How did Addison get her name?
I named Addison after Kate Walsh’s character on Grey’s Anatomy, Addison Montgomery-Shepherd. I was going to name her Dolly after Dolly Parton, but I saw that all of the girl puppies in the litter had a reddish tint to their fur. Addison M-S was my favorite T.V. character with red hair at the time so I asked Russ what he thought about using the name Addison. The first words out of his mouth were “You do realize that Addison is not a dog’s name,” but after 10 minutes he said it was a great name! Yes, I’m aware that my Addison is now a vivacious blond with big hair, so Dolly would have fit too!

If you had to describe your dog in three words, you’d say….
Spirited, Inquisitive, Sassy. Basically words used by a kindergarten teacher to describe the one child who is always getting in trouble!

What makes you happy?
A lot of things make me happy! The short list: Russ and Addison obviously make me very happy (she probably makes us smile more than anything!), but I live far away from my family, and when we are all able to hang out together, that is just the best! Other things that make me smile: puppy dogs, crafting (I’m awful, but I love to try!), Gilmore Girls, reading, and great deals on online sales (shout out to Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade for their recent awesome sales!). Peppermint hot chocolate and salt/vinegar potato chips also make me very happy!

If you had one tip to share with other blogggers it would be…
Be yourself. Blog about what you know and love. And most importantly, don’t be afraid to reach out to other bloggers with questions or comments. I have “met” so many wonderful people through blogging!

Taylor’s TOP 5 Pretty & Fluffy picks…
1. Tory Burch Clines Ballet Flats (Pictured) – You can wear them to work, church, and walk the dog! Pretty and comfortable!
2. My painting of Addison by Jordan Terese Art (Pictured)
3. Kate Spade Cobble Hill Leslie Handbag – It’s classic, and I love how it’s big enough to hold everything from wallets/phones/keys to Gulpys and “pick up after your pet” bags.
4. Barbour Quilted Dog Coatย (Pictured) – Perfect for rainy and cold weather! It’s stylish and practical (well, as practical as a dog coat can be!)
5. Expresso Wicker Dog Day Bed from Coco and Pud – This would be perfect in our sun room/Addison’s room.

  1. I totally thought your dog was a Wheaten because we have a wheaten and they look alike! Ours often gets confused for a goldendoodle, but they tend to be bigger. our dog is in the 35 pound range. VERY cute!

  2. Gorgeous post and so lovely to meet Addison and Taylor! Addison is adorable! xx

You’re dog is really pretty. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a Blue collie-Blue heeler mix. Her names Addison. No one liked the name! but, I love it. Did you know, Addison is name of a disease dogs can get? I havn’t done much research on it, but I found out about it when I took Addison to get get her puppy shots like 2 weeks ago.

I love your dog! My little Maltese girl is named Addison because her mama is a Cubs fan, and Wrigley Field is at the intersection of Clark and Addison! I love calling her Addie too. Hope all is with you and your baby!
