The Whistle Activity Monitor is a clip on collar device that measures your dog’s activities – from walks, to play, to rest and everything in between.

The sleek stainless steel device – only a smidge bigger than a bottle cap in size – clips onto your dog’s collar and then connects to your phone through a downloadable app.

With 24 hour monitoring, the device then feeds information through to your phone telling you what your dog is up to in real time.

Did your dog just go for a walk? You’ll see that the Whistle has logged in their 20 minute stroll. Have they had a play in the backyard? The Whistle is recording it. Time for a nap? By checking your phone you can see exactly when and how often your dog is resting.

No matter where you are each day you can see just what your dog is getting up to and how healthy their lifestyle is on a daily basis – helping you with their long term health and fitness goals.

When our Whistle arrived in the post, I simply removed it from the packaging, charged it up via USB, attached it to Soda’s collar using the included attachment and downloaded the free app onto my phone.

The first day that we connected the Whistle was an eye opener.

I could see in real time just how much Soda was sleeping, when she was active and could monitor exactly how long our walks were.

I could tell straight away that when I wasn’t engaging with Soda during playtime or walking, she was pretty much in rest mode.

Knowing this is the exact motivation I and many other dog owners need to make that daily commitment of walks, off leash time and play.

While perfect for all dogs, I can see the Whistle being an invaluable device for overweight, inactive and senior dogs. The ability to monitor your dog’s daily fitness levels and set goals for their activity would be a huge step in ensuring their overall health and wellbeing. You can see on a daily basis just how effective your fitness regime is and tweak as needed.

The #1 thing I loved about the Whistle was the ability to monitor Soda 24/7 – even when I was away from her.

The creators have made it so multiple people can download the app and access the one dog’s account. So every family member has the option of keeping tabs on the family pooch. With a click of a button you can see if Fido has been for a walk or eaten already that morning.

I have to say it was great to be at the office and to see that Soda had been up and about that morning. Then when I noticed she rested for the majority of the afternoon, it was just the motivation I needed to take her for a walk as soon as I returned home.

It’s the perfect way to be there for your dog when you actually can’t be there.
