Coco & Pud Takes Home Two Awards This Year

If you have been reading Pretty Fluffy for a while, Coco & Pud will not need much of an introduction. We first wrote about Jane and Sarah when we rounded up the women-owned pet businesses we love, and their pieces have quietly turned up in our edits ever since. The leopard print bow tie in our dapper dogs guide. The Le Jardin watercolor harness in our floral harness roundup. They have been part of the furniture here for years.

So it is a particular kind of pleasure to report that this year, Coco & Pud took home two awards.

The wins: Coco & Pud was named Best Luxury Pet Apparel & Accessories Brand 2026 (Australia) in the LUXlife Leaders in Luxury Awards, and their Coco Cable Dog Sweater won Pet Innovation of the Year.

Two awards in one year is a lot for any brand. It is a great deal more when the brand in question is a mother and daughter working out of a house in the New South Wales Southern Highlands.

A Decade of Quietly Getting It Right

Coco & Pud started in 2015, and the origin story is one a lot of us will recognize. Jane and Sarah went looking for beautiful things for their own animals and could not find what they had in their heads. So they made it.

What is worth noticing, ten years on, is what they did not do. They did not chase every trend. They did not lean on dropshipped basics with a logo applied. The prints are designed in-house, season by season, and the range grew outward from harnesses and collars into sweaters, bandanas, bow ties, travel gear and cat pieces at a pace that suggests somebody was actually thinking about each addition.

Every piece still gets tested by the household it was designed for: four miniature dachshunds and two Burmese cats, who are, by all accounts, a tough panel.

That patience is the whole reason the brand is now shipping worldwide from a rural postcode, with more than 69,500 customers and over 2,500 five-star reviews behind it. Small brands that last tend to be the ones that stayed recognizable while they grew. Coco & Pud looks like itself.

Best Luxury Pet Apparel & Accessories Brand

The LUXlife Leaders in Luxury Awards recognize brands around the world for design, quality and customer experience. Coco & Pud took the Australian title in pet apparel and accessories, which is the harder of their two wins, because it judges the whole body of work rather than a single hero product. It is not enough to have one thing everybody photographs. The range has to hold together.

Anyone who has ordered from Coco & Pud knows what that looks like in practice. A collar arrives and the matching lead, harness, bandana and bow tie all exist in the same print, in sizes that actually run from toy breeds to large dogs. The packaging is considered. Sizing questions get answered by a person. These sound like small things. They are, in fact, most of what separates a brand you buy from twice from a brand you buy from once.

Australia turns out an unusual number of excellent independent pet labels, as anyone who has browsed our best Australian dog collars or designer dog harnesses guides will know. Taking the national title in that company is not a small thing.

Pet Innovation of the Year: The Coco Cable Dog Sweater

The second award is the one that made us smile, because innovation in the pet industry usually means something with a battery in it.

The Coco Cable is a wool cable-knit sweater. What earned it the award is that it solves a problem knitwear for dogs has always had, which is fit. Dogs are not shaped like small people. A sweater that works on a Cavoodle is useless on a dachshund, and most brands answer that by offering three sizes and hoping.

Coco & Pud sized the Coco Cable by back length instead, running from XXS at 25cm up to XXL, then cut an entirely separate version for dachshunds and other long-bodied breeds. Given that four miniature dachshunds live in the design studio, that is less a marketing decision than a domestic one. The wool has natural give, so a snug fit stays comfortable rather than becoming a restriction. It is handmade, which is why the stitch definition holds after a season instead of pilling into fuzz.

That is the innovation. Not a gadget. A knitwear brand taking the trouble to understand that dogs come in shapes, and building the pattern around that fact. If you have ever wrestled a sweater over a reluctant pup only to find it bunching at the shoulders and dragging on wet pavement, you know exactly how rare that trouble is.

It also puts a fairly firm floor under the category. We have watched dog knitwear grow up over the past few years in our dog sweater trends coverage, and fit is finally getting the attention that print and color have had for a decade.

What Two Awards Mean for a Team of Two

There is a version of this story that is just industry news. This is not really that version.

Sarah and Jane have spent ten years doing the unglamorous parts. Packing orders. Answering sizing emails on a Sunday. Getting a print right on the fourth attempt. When a small team wins a national title, it is worth saying plainly that nobody handed it to them and nobody was working on it full time with a marketing department behind them.

We have a soft spot for that kind of business here. Most of the brands in our apparel and accessories directory started the same way, with somebody wanting something for their own dog badly enough to make it themselves. It is a good reminder that when you buy from a small label, the order notification usually lands on somebody's actual phone.

If You Are New to Coco & Pud

Start with the Coco Cable if you are coming into a cold snap, and measure your dog's back length before you order rather than guessing from their weight. Wool knits stretch, so if you land between sizes, size down. Long-bodied breeds should go straight to the dachshund cut.

If it is warmer where you are, the harnesses are the better entry point, particularly the step-in styles that do not have to go over the head.
