What is an AirTag?

Apple’s AirTag is a sleek coin-sized tracking device designed to locate lost items. It’s a clever gadget for the forgetful among us who tend to misplace our everyday essentials, from our wallet to our car keys – even the TV remote!

AirTags can be purchased individually or in a pack of four. As long as your iPhone or Apple device is running a minimum of iOS 14.5, the AirTag will be compatible.

To find lost items, AirTags connect to your phone via Bluetooth and Apple’s Find My network (made up of nearly one billion Apple devices!) While the original idea was to track personal valuables, people have since come to use AirTags to track their pets too.

Can AirTags be used on pets?

Although Apple doesn’t specifically recommend using AirTags for pet tracking (due to the inability to track pets in an ‘off the grid’ location) the AirTag is still a great way to help you find your missing pet in a well-populated area, such as a town or city. 

Becoming separated from your dog is quite a scary thought – and it’s exactly why more and more pet parents are choosing AirTags to safely monitor their dog’s whereabouts.

Upon initial set up of your AirTag to be used as a pet tracker, you can add your dog’s name along with an emoji. Then, you’ll need a holder or accessory to safely attach the AirTag to your pup.
