Easy Dog Easter Egg Recipe
We all want our pups to join in the Easter fun, but human chocolate is toxic because of theobromine. The solution? Homemade easter eggs for dogs! Skip the expensive, preservative-filled store treats.
This easy recipe uses carob or dog-friendly yogurt drops: the superhero of the dog treat world! It’s naturally sweet, caffeine-free, and totally safe. Ready to whip up some healthy, look-alike magic? Let’s go!

Ingredients
To kick off your dog easter egg production line, you don’t need a fancy professional kitchen, but having the right tools makes a huge difference.
Item | Why You Need It |
| Mini Egg Mould | This is your secret weapon for getting that classic egg shape! Silicone molds are flexible, making it a breeze to pop the eggs out. |
| Mixing Bowl | A heat-proof glass or ceramic bowl is best. Safety first! |
| Small Saucepan | You will need this to create a gentle heat source for melting your drops. |
| Teaspoon & Butter Knife | These are your magic wands for precision filling and leveling the mixture. |
| Yoghurt or Carob Drops | The star of the show! You can buy “dog chocolate” drops (carob-based) or yoghurt drops from most pet supply stores. |
Hot Tip: Want to make your easter eggs for dogs pop with color? Yoghurt drops are a fantastic base. You can leave them white or even add a tiny drop of natural, dog-safe food coloring to create pastel yellow or pink eggs!

Instructions
Creating these treats takes a little patience, but the result is pawsome!
1. Melt Like a Pro
Set up a double boiler (bowl over simmering water). Melt your drops slowly over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
Tip: High heat burns carob instantly! Keep it low and slow for that glossy finish.
2. Fill & Tap
Remove from the heat and spoon the mixture into the mould cavities. Tap the mould firmly on the counter to pop air bubbles (the secret to a smooth shell!).
Pro Tip: Leave a tiny gap at the top to prevent overflow later. Use a knife to level the surface if needed.
3. The First Chill
Pop in the fridge for ~20 mins until rock hard. Gently remove these solid halves and set them aside on baking paper.
4. The Magic Join
Refill the mould with fresh melted mixture (repeat steps 1-2). Don’t chill yet! Place your solid halves on top of the wet chocolate. The liquid acts as a delicious glue to seal them together.
5. Final Set & Reveal
Refrigerate again for 20-30 mins. Once solid, press the bottom of the mould to pop out your whole eggs. Smooth any rough edges with a warm finger, and voila!

Presentation and Serving Tips
Now that you have approximately 10 beautiful eggs (depending on your mould size), it is time to make them look festive!
Foil Wrapping (Optional): Wrap your fabulous new Easter Eggs in decorative foil for a pretty presentation! You can find colorful foils at craft stores. A bowl full of shiny, colorful eggs looks great on the counter. Just make sure you unwrap each egg completely before feeding it to your pooch. Foil is a choking hazard and can cause internal blockages, so never let your dog play with a wrapped egg. Safety first, always!
Storage: Since these are made with yoghurt or carob, they are best kept cool. Store them in an airtight container in the fridge. They can last for a few weeks, meaning you can prep them well in advance of Easter Sunday.
Portion Control: It is easy to get carried away with how cute these are, but remember that treats are just that: treats! The above recipe is for treats only and should not replace your dog’s regular meal plans. Even safe ingredients like carob contain calories. A general rule is that treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog’s daily calorie intake.

Hi Serena, I really enjoy you guys tips and DYI’s. The question I have is: I am currently trying to make the yogurt drop with the Hershey kiss look ( valentines puppy kisses). Where can I find the tags that you guys used in the 52nd addition that say woof or puppy kisses? I would love to purchase these.
I wish I could find these in the United States, so cute!! <3
