Easy Iron-on Transfer Dog Pumpkin Mask & Bandana Set
What you’ll need:
- 1 x Halloween Dog Pumpkin Mask & Bandana Set template (free download below)
- Iron-on Transfer Paper
- 2 x light coloured A4 sheets of felt (to transfer mask and bandana on)
- Ribbon (orange or black)
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Hemming tape
- Fabric marker pen
- Dog collar
Instructions:
- Print the mask and bandana iron-on template in colour, on to iron-on transfer paper (A4 for small dogs, A3 for larger dogs. Do a test print first!)
- Carefully cut out the pumpkin dog bandana and mask iron-on templates (trim to remove as much white as possible).
- Lay the mask print on one of the sheets of felt, and cut a rectangle around it. Set aside.
- Now, create a rectangle on the other sheet of felt, by drawing a line across the full width of the sheet. You want the height to be about 4x the width of your dog’s collar, as this rectangle shape will be used to loop around the collar. eg. Ziggy’s collar is 2.5cm, so the total height we used was 10cm.
- Using the same felt sheet, mark a point in the centre of the bottom edge. This will be used to create the triangle shape.
- Then, simply rule two lines from the bottom edges of the rectangle, and connect to your marked point to form the triangle bandana shape.
- Cut out felt bandana shape and set aside.
- Place your iron-on bandana and mask templates on the prepared fabric, then iron on (instructions for this part may vary slightly depending on the transfer paper you use).
Assembling the mask:
- Once the templates are transferred to the fabric sheets, cut out the mask and the eye holes.
- Cut 2 x 30cm strips of ribbon (add a little more for bigger dogs!) Turn mask over and attach ribbon with hemming tape.
Assembling the bandana:
- Place the bandana facing up. Apply a strip of hemming tape along the top edge of the fabric (in the rectangle area).
- Now, turn bandana over. Place collar on top of fabric, leaving enough space to fold fabric over the collar once.
- Fold the fabric over the collar, pull off the hemming tape seal, and fold again.
- To be extra secure, apply another strip of hemming tape to the top of the folded felt, and fold over again.
- Your bandana should now be attached and able to slide on and off from the collar.
- Remove bandana from collar and trim excess felt fabric to neaten.
Your dog’s Halloween bandana can now easily slide on to scare everyone in your neighbourhood, or slide off to store away for your next dog-friendly Halloween celebration!
Felt No-Sew Dog Pumpkin Mask & Bandana Set for Halloween
What you’ll need:
- 1 x Felt Dog Pumpkin Mask & Bandana Set template on 2 x A4 sheets of paper* (free download below)
- Choose from 3 template sizes – small, medium and large. If you have a big dog, print on A3 paper.
- 4 x A4 sheets of felt in Halloween/fall colours (orange, mustard, green and brown).
- Ribbon (orange or black)
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Hemming tape
- Fabric marker pen
- Fabric glue
- Dog collar
How to Make the Pumpkin Halloween Mask
- Print out mask & bandana set templates onto A4 or A3 paper depending on your dog’s size.
- Carefully cut out all shapes and lay them on the felt. Cut a loose square or rectangle around each shape (leaving a 3cm approx gap at the top of the mask shape, to save room for the pumpkin stalk).
- Using your marker, draw around the shapes.
- Cut out the shapes. If you prefer the black lines visible, then cut outside them. If you prefer the lines hidden, then cut inside them (we preferred to keep the lines in).
-
- Now, glue the round centre piece to the mask, then glue the stalk and leaf to the mask (the extra felt at the top of the mask adds thickness to the stalk, to prevent it from flopping over)
- Cut around the mask, and cut out the eyes. Touch up and trim around the black outlines if you choose to keep them.
-
- Cut 2 x 30cm strips of ribbon (add a little more for bigger dogs!)
- Turn mask over, then attach ribbon with hemming tape.

How to Make the Pumpkin Halloween Bandana
- Create a rectangle on an orange sheet of felt, by drawing a line across the full width of the sheet. You want the height to be about 4x the width of your dog’s collar, as this rectangle shape will be used to loop around the collar to secure it (eg. Ziggy’s collar is 2.5cm, so the total height we used was 10cm).
- Using the same felt sheet, mark a point at the centre of the bottom edge. This will be used to create the triangle shape.
- Then, simply rule two lines from the bottom edges of the rectangle, and connect to your marked point to form the triangle bandana shape.
-
- Cut out felt bandana shape and set aside.
- Using your printed template, cut out the individual shapes of the pumpkin face.
- Place pumpkin face shapes on to brown felt sheet (or your preferred colour). Using your black marker, draw around the template.
-
- Cut the shapes out of the fabric. If you’d like the black lines visible, cut outside them. If you’d prefer no lines visible, then cut inside them.
- Position pumpkin face shapes on to bandana piece. Attach with fabric glue, and leave to dry for approx 10 minutes.
- Apply a strip of hemming tape along the top edge of the fabric (in the rectangle area).
-
- Now, turn bandana over. Place collar on top of the fabric, leaving enough space to fold fabric over the collar once.
- Fold the fabric over the collar, pull off the hemming tape seal, and fold again.
- To be extra secure, apply another strip of hemming tape to the top of the folded felt, and fold over again.
-
- Your bandana should now be attached and able to slide on and off from the collar.
- Remove bandana from collar and trim excess felt fabric to neaten.
-
All done! The bandana can now easily slide on to scare trick-or-treaters, or slide off to store away.
