Kosar is the editor of Pretty Fluffy, a lifelong dog lover, and the proud mom of Yuki, a Maltese who has very high standards. So does Kosar. She researches everything obsessively before it ever makes it onto the page.

Jack-o-lanterns, bats, ghosts, oh my! 'Something wicked this way comes' perfectly describes our Instagram feed around this time of year. From scary-chic prints to sassy slogans, we always love seeing the latest Halloween dog bandanas from the best established and emerging pupper boo-tiques.

Now, although we are personally obsessed with getting dressed up for Halloween, our pups are sadly not big fans of wearing dog Halloween costumes themselves. Some dogs just are not into it, and we would never force our boys to be uncomfortable (although we did make this DIY no-sew dog pumpkin bandana and mask set for Ziggy and Sunny, which they were happy to show off).

That is exactly why bandanas are so popular. Stylish, affordable and a costume your dog can slip on and forget about, it really is the perfect way for your pup to join the spooky celebrations with you. Here are the eleven we would buy this year, and if you would rather make your own, our no-sew dog bandana tutorial takes about twenty minutes. There is something for every-buddy.

The best Halloween dog bandana is the one that fits the way your dog actually wears things. Slip-on styles that thread onto the collar stay put far better than tie-on ones, which loosen the moment a dog shakes. Measure the neck before you order, size up for thick coats, and pick a print with enough contrast to read in a photo. For dogs who hate costumes, a bandana is the whole outfit and that is completely fine.

Witch and Bat Dog Bandanas

Two of the most dependable prints in dog Halloween dressing, and the two most likely to still look good in November. More from small brands like these lives in our Collars, Leads and Harnesses directory.

If you loved Hocus Pocus as much as we did, you will want to snap this one up pretty quick. It is the least expensive pick on the whole list, which makes it a low-risk way to test whether your dog tolerates a bandana at all before you commit to something fancier. Stylish with a hex-tra touch of sass.

2

sandpiper pets Minky Halloween Bats Dog Bandana

sandpiper pets Minky Halloween Bats Dog Bandana

Price last checked September 2026 · may vary

Minky is the soft, slightly plush fabric you find on baby blankets, which makes this a gentler option for dogs who object to anything stiff around the neck. Bats are also the most forgiving Halloween print going, reading as spooky in October and simply graphic for the rest of the year.

The Paws Batty Dog Machine Washable Dog Bandana

The Paws Batty Dog Machine Washable Dog Bandana

Machine washable is doing quiet heavy lifting here. Halloween means damp grass, dropped treats and at least one enthusiastic roll in something, and a bandana you can only spot-clean gets worn once and then lives in a drawer.

Buckle-Down Halloween Ghosts Scattered Personalized Dog Bandana

The personalization is what earns this its place. A scattered ghost print is cute on any dog, but a bandana with your dog's name on it is the one that ends up in the photos people keep. Order early, since personalized items take longer to arrive than stock ones.

Ghosts and a trick-or-treat slogan in one, from a small Etsy shop, at a price that makes buying two for a multi-dog household painless. Something sweet for your best ghoul-friend, without the sugar.

The Foggy Dog Spiderweb Crochet Pet Bandana

The Foggy Dog Spiderweb Crochet Pet Bandana

The most interesting thing on this list, and the only one that is not printed fabric. A crocheted spiderweb is genuinely web-shaped rather than a picture of a web, which photographs beautifully. Being an open weave, it will also sit lighter on a dog who runs warm.

Dog Bandana Co. Halloween Plaid Dog Bandana

Dog Bandana Co. Halloween Plaid Dog Bandana

For the household that wants seasonal rather than spooky. A Halloween plaid carries the orange and black without a single ghost in sight, so it works from the first pumpkin patch trip through to Thanksgiving. The sensible choice, and we mean that kindly.

The splurge of the group by a distance, and the one built around fit rather than print. If your dog has previously worn a bandana for eleven minutes before shrugging it into the garden, a fitted design is the thing worth paying for.

Tails Up, Pup have been a Pretty Fluffy favorite for years and Happy Haunting is exactly what they do well: cheerful rather than creepy, and the sort of design a dog can wear to a party full of small children without frightening anybody.

Releaf Halloween Dog Bandanas 2 Pack

Releaf Halloween Dog Bandanas 2 Pack

Two bandanas for less than most single ones. The practical pick for multi-dog homes, for anyone wanting a spare while the first is in the wash, and for the reasonable position that a dog should have options.

Remy+Roo Spooky Halloween Dog Bandanas 2 Pack

Remy+Roo Spooky Halloween Dog Bandanas Large 2 Pack

Price last checked September 2026 · may vary

The large-dog answer, and there are fewer of those than there should be. Most novelty bandanas are cut for a spaniel and look like a napkin on a Labrador. Two designs, sized properly, so your big boo can change outfits between the pumpkin patch and the front door.

How to Choose a Halloween Dog Bandana That Stays On

Almost every bandana disappointment comes down to fit rather than print, and the print is the only thing the product photo shows you. Here is what to settle before you add anything to a cart.

Measure the neck first. Run a soft tape around the base of the neck where a collar sits, then add a couple of centimeters. Most sellers size by neck measurement rather than by breed, and the breed labels on novelty accessories are close to meaningless. A stocky Staffy and a leggy Whippet get called the same size and are not.

Prefer slip-on over tie-on. A bandana with a sleeve that threads onto the collar cannot work loose, because it is held by the collar rather than by a knot. Tie-on styles look better in photos and slide sideways within about ten minutes of real dog activity. If you buy a tie-on, tie it over the collar rather than under it.

Size up for thick coats. A double-coated dog wears a full collar size more than their measurement suggests once the fur is factored in. If you are between sizes on a Husky, a Golden or anything fluffy, go bigger.

Check the print reads from a distance. A detailed design that looks gorgeous flat becomes a smudge once it is folded around a neck and photographed in the dark. Big shapes and high contrast photograph better.

A bandana is not ID and it is not safety gear. October 31 is one of the highest-risk nights of the year for dogs slipping out of an open front door. Keep the collar, the tags and the microchip details doing their job underneath, and if you are walking after dark, use proper reflective gear rather than relying on a light-colored bandana. Our dog harness buying guide covers what to look for in something reflective.

If your dog will not tolerate anything around the neck, that is information rather than a problem. Skip the bandana and put the effort into the treats instead.
