As the owner of a dog who loves to get ear infections, when I heard about Blackmores PAW Gentle Ear Cleaner I was game to give it a try.

I never liked the idea of constantly bombarding Soda’s ears with medications, so an all natural gentle ear cleaner was music to Soda’s irritated ears. But would it work? Here’s what I found out…

THE DETAILS

Blackmores PAW Gentle Ear Cleaner is a natural, gentle ear cleaner that effectively cleans your pup’s ears without irritation.

It’s a drop based formula that you use once a week to keep your dog’s ears clean and healthy.

It comes in a small bottle with an easy applicator tip that you simply insert into the ear and squeeze the solution into the ear canal. You then massage the base of your dog’s ear for around 30 seconds and you’re all done!

NATURAL & GENTLE INGREDIENTS

The thing I loved the most about this ear cleaner was its gentle, natural based ingredients including purified hydrolysed oats, cold pressed citrus oil and sulphate free cleansers.

Unlike other ear cleaners the gentle formula contains no alcohol, harsh chemicals or acids – making it much more easy going on your dog’s sensitive ear cavity while still being effective in cleaning and removing ear gunk and wax.

THE RESULTS

I’ve been using the Blackmores PAW Gentle Ear Cleaner with Soda for a number of months now and I can happily say we’re both big fans! OK, well Soda still doesn’t like ear drops, but she enjoys the benefits of no infections that’s for sure.

The ear cleaner did take some getting used to at the start, as a couple of times I squeezed too much solution into the ear and got most of it in her hair – resulting in a sticky mess down the side of her face. But after those teething problems it was smooth sailing.

It definitely keeps her ears clean, and without odour, and since using it she hasn’t had one ear infection or irritation.

HANDY HINT

On our vet’s recommendation, I have also used the Blackmores PAW Gentle Ear Cleaner for some minor skin irritations on Soda’s paws and snout. In both cases the ear cleaner worked a treat!

However I would always consult with your own vet before using the cleaner on anything other than your pup’s ears.

WHAT WE LOVED:

  • Easy once a week application to keep your dog’s ears clean and smelling fresh.
  • Helps prevent wax build up and ear infections in dogs.
  • Contains no harsh chemicals or alcohol, instead relying on natural based cleansers.
  • Simple to use with handy applicator tip.
  • Affordable price point at $24.95 for 120ml bottle which lasts a long time.

BEST FOR:

  • All dogs – effectively cleans and removes ear wax and debris.
  • Dogs that suffer from ear infections and odours – the gentle formula will help keep their ears clean.
  • Dogs with allergies and sensitive skin – the natural ingredients are much more gentle on the skin and ear than other formulas.

  1. Soda looks less than overjoyed about having stuff squirted down her ear 🙂 I’m sure being the super clever girl she is though, she knows that it makes her feel much better! I really like PAWs products, particularly this gentle ear cleaner and also the nutriderm shampoo. Great, natural choice.

  2. My pug has such grubby ears… I struggle to clean them with wipes.

I’ve been thinking about purchasing an ear cleaner so that I can effectively get rid of dirt and dust. I’m a bit nervous but I think I might try the Gentle Ear Cleaner from PAW.

Thanks for doing a review on it.

  3. This looks like a great find – Archie our schnoodle has such dark hair it’s always difficult to tell whats going on in his ears. The tip on the bottle loosk great too, easy to get it quickly in the right place. Thanks Serena! (And gorgeous model, Soda!)

  4. Oh I have to ask my vet about this! I have to give my dog ear drops every day when it starts to have an odor. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Thanks for sharing!
