It’s finally ready to reveal, hooray! Welcome to our little office, I’m so happy to have you lovelies as our first guests. I had so many ideas when I was planning our new space, but there were two main things that I wanted to focus on. 1. It had to be cheerful and reflect both of our personalities. 2. It needed to be inexpensive, because who isn’t on a budget, right? Mission complete. A budget friendly, fresh-white, his and hers office with room for our little executive, Coco Bean. I have every detail captured and ready to share with you. Ready?
My husband and I both wanted to have our own inspiration boards, since after all, this is a place where you want to feel creative and keep motivated. For our boards we purchased adhesive cork board tiles and painted them a vanilla white so they would blend into the walls nicely. After we placed them where we wanted, we pinned up our favorite photos, cards, and quotes. They turned out great, so fun and personal. The retro white barstools we found on craigslist, $30 for the set. Hallelujah!
Hers
I added feminine pops of color on my side of the room with little hints of DIY sparkle. Most of the items in the room were from thrift stores or just stuff we accumulated through the years and spruced up to look new, which was very kind on our pocket book.
I recycled a honey jar to place our thumb tacks in, and I love the hint of gold it created. It matches the DIY glittered mousepad I made, as well as the DIY glittered pencil cup. The gold accents throughout the room play off of one another in a pretty way. It was cheap, easy, and added some whimsy.
His
We spent a whole weekend going through images and quotes to pin on Tanner’s inspiration board, and I have to say I really enjoyed that. It was important to me that he had a ‘guy’ space to study for exams, and had lots of encouraging and motivating quotes to remind him of his goals. And of course he wanted to include his Father’s day portraits of Bean. His area is clean and streamlined, suites him well! Over time I’m sure our boards will be even more filled with nifty things.
Coco’s
Of course a photo of the little boss is prominently displayed next to her her favorite relaxation spot. Her window bench is where she loves to peek out at the neighbors to see what’s going down in the hood. The colorful rug in front of the shelves serves as a cozy second. Have you spotted our DIY paw print yet?
Thanks for taking the first peek at our new room. I hope you enjoyed it! Now I will retreat to my little oasis and work on some fun posts we have in store for you. Have a great week, friends!

It’s SO YOU! I love it! Can’t wait to redo my home office too. I still want to make a paw print art piece for my other office!
Thank you so much, Sarah! The paw print would make the perfect accessory for you!! xo
Beautiful!
Thanks, Taylor!!
Everything is gorgeous! We just moved into a new house and for the first time have both our computers/work spaces in the same room, so you’ve given me lots of inspiration!
Aw, thank you, Grace! I am happy to have inspired 🙂 Have fun decorating your new place!!
super inspiring! thanks for the post 🙂
Thanks Maggie! xo
This looks fantastic! Can I ask where you got the desk units?
Thank you, Mandy! The desk was actually custom made by my husband and father-in-law and painted to match the walls. 🙂
What a gorgeous office space! I can’t wait till I have a bigger apartment. At the moment my office is also our spare room/junk room/ husband’s weights room, which is not conducive to the inspiration I need to write books! Sarah has done a wonderful job – on a budget, no less. It looks marvellous. Especially love the idea of spraying the cork boards white. Fantastic!
hey there! 🙂
I LOVE this room and all the details!I was going to ask, on the cork board tiles, did you spray paint them, brush, or roll? I was wondering if either technique made a difference in the outcome, because I love yours!
My husband and I made a desk similar to yours but we added a drawer that was from my daughters desk when she was a little girl, so we still have the drawer.:) She’s grown up now and lives in new York, we remodeled her room for when she visits us, and your desk design is part of her room now! :))
Oh wow that is so cool to hear!! Thank you 🙂
For the cork tiles, I just used a brush and painted with craft paint. Nothing fancy! XOXO
LOVE THIS! So sleek and clean with little pops of color! Who wouldn’t feel inspired in a work space like this?
I have been meaning to update my sad-looking workspace, and this is exactly what I needed to see. I love this! The style of not just the office, but the blog, too. You have excellent taste. 🙂 I’ll be following for sure!
