CRUELTY FREE VS VEGAN CLEANING PRODUCTS
Is there a difference? Absolutely! Let’s clear up any confusion.
Cruelty-free means the product is not tested on animals, while vegan means no animal-derived ingredients are used in the making of the product.
A product can be both cruelty-free and vegan. But a cruelty-free product may still contain animal products, and a vegan product may have been tested on animals.
#1. Method Squirt + Mop Hard Floor Cleaner
One of the leaders in cruelty free cleaning products, Method outshines itself with its Squirt + Mop Hard Floor Cleaner.
The shower spray nozzle makes the job quicker (with less wastage) and the no-wax formula is non-toxic and biodegradable.
Method cruelty-free cleaning products are listed by PETA.
#2. Earth Choice by Nature Organics
I’ve been using Earth Choice Laundry Liquid and Fabric Softener for years now and to date they keep even the most delicate of my clothes soft, clean and smelling fresh.
They use no animal ingredients or testing, are biodegradable and come in 100% recycled PET packaging – the cruelty free trifecta!
Earth Choice is listed by PETA as one of the top cruelty free cleaning products in Australia.
#3. The Honest Company Multi-Surface Cleaner
With Jessica Alba at the helm, The Honest Co. has seriously made its mark as a company to watch for their plant based, non-toxic cleaning products – which are also, you guessed it, cruelty free.
I can’t go past their multi-Surface cleaner which you can use on pretty much anything – countertops, laminate, paint, grills, granite, wood, porcelain…you name it, you can get it clean with the Honest Co.
The Honest Co. is confirmed by PETA as a company that does not test on animals.
#4. Seventh Generation Stainless Steel Cleaner
For years I lived with grubby fingerprints and marks on my stainless steel appliances because I couldn’t find a cruelty free cleaner. Luckily now there are a number of top picks – including this guy from Seventh Generation.
The non-toxic cleaner can be used on stainless steel, copper, brass AND chrome; and is fragranced with essential oils and botanical extracts for the win.
Seventh Generation is on the PETA list of cruelty free products.

I just tried a sample of the multi-surface cleaner from The Honest Co. and love knowing that it’s cruelty-free and free of toxins. I’m trying to switch out all of my household products. Thanks for the great roundup!
It is good to see that companies and making these kind of products . I have used the squirt cleaner and it is good now i will try their skin products because those seem to be very good too.
These products are worth buying as i have bought some of their cleaners and they are better than the others. Try out the bug spray i use it in my clinic as well.
Isn’t GLYCERIN an animal product? … it’s listed as an ingredient in the Williams Sonoma Dish Soap.
Cruelty free doesn’t mean Vegan!
Um….there is vegetable glycerin…I use it to make soap. So actually you can have cruelty products with glycerin…
